Luxury Wedding Planner Surrey; My definition of luxury

The strapline on my instagram handle at the moment is luxury wedding planner surrey (until I decide to change it as I often do!) The bigger question for me though is what does it mean for you? Luxury is a word that gets thrown around a lot and I do think people tend to not know what it actually means as it is is such a broad term.

It is not a word I use often myself (I prefer elegance or elegant to luxury but, let’s not get into all that semantics now!) In this case though, I’m using it primarily as a descriptor to define and describe the higher level of expertise and service you get when you work with me. (I tried to find better descriptors but google seems to like luxury best so we’re stuck with it! In a good way of course 😉

When it come to weddings and wedding planning, most folks associate the word luxury wedding planner with different things; from esteemed value, to high end and glamorous or better still, others associate it with something purely for celebrities or hollywood A listers.

In all of this, there’s probably no right or wrong answer as luxury is perceived differently by almost everyone you meet. As a luxury wedding planner surrey, the whole point of this post to take you through my kind of luxury, what luxury means to me, how it helps you and what you can expect when you work with me.

Understated Elegance

I came across a strapline once that says ‘elegance over opulence’ and that really resonated with me. I guess for me that’s what luxury means. It’s elegance, it’s understated, it’s refined, it’s beautiful without being over done. It is a sense of easygoing, relaxed and effortless elegance where quality triumphs over quantity, always.

Whether that is with the curated pieces you choose for your wedding design, the artisan food you choose for your wedding breakfast, your dress and suits, the calligraphed invitation suite you send out to your guests, the handpicked flowers for your day or the quiet ambience of the day itself, all this adds to create your own unique and luxury wedding.

Relaxed weddings are my best ones to work on. Yes, there’s a sense of formality of the occasion but it is still intimate and relaxed and both you and your guests can kick back, relax and have a good time without worrying about a thing. Weddings as a celebration of love and what better way to celebrate than in a relaxed, understated atmosphere that puts your love centre stage?

Ah…bespoke, that is quite a word, isn’t it? I mean in the sense that it is packed with meaning. Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want to (and I wouldn’t want you to either) have a cookie cutter version of someone else’s wedding, you want your very own unique day so going bespoke gets my vote any day.

I always say that ‘every detail tells a story’ so it is with curating all those details that make your day utterly yours. From replicating your dress design on the cake to sourcing and incorporating items that has significant meaning to you as part of the wedding design to personalising your wedding favours are all great ways to have a bespoke wedding.

You want your guests to walk into your wedding and say yes, this is you. Nothing quite defines luxury to me as having the wedding you want, the way you want it and its my job as a luxury wedding planner to design your wedding to be a true reflection of you both.

Attention to detail

This is quite an important one. The devil is in the details goes the popular saying and I couldn’t agree more! It makes all the difference when you pick the right shade of grey (e.g. steel grey) and not just any grey! That’s the kind of difference / attention to detail we’re talking about here.

It means paying meticulous attention to the details of your wedding celebration, both the big logistical ones like helping you to find the right wedding venue or going on a site visit for your marquee wedding and asking those pesky questions about how much square metre space you need per guest for the dance floor as well as the smaller minute details of your wedding design (colour, shade, style, texture etc).

All contribute to ensuring a seamless and memorable wedding experience for you and your guests.

An Experience

The way I see it, you are coming here to get married in the company of your nearest and dearest. It’s your wedding celebration and you want them to have an experience, a good one mind. One that they will talk about and remember for the longest time and for years to come. You want to make it memorable and enjoyable for you and your guests so craft an experience that they will remember.

Depending on taste and preferences, the UK has a lot to offer in making your guests stay a memorable one. From champagne boat cruises across the thames to afternoon tea on the orient express to more maniler pursuits like hunting, lots of options abound. I will help you to craft experiences that will help your guest to relax and enjoy your wedding weekend.

Thinking about your guests in this way is a sure sign of luxury, don’t you think?

It’s important to me that I’m responsive to you as we plan your wedding. I know that as humans and especially with weddings, things can change very quickly. You can change your mind about something or decide to include something you hadn’t thought of before so when you make changes to what we had originally agreed (and I mean fundamental changes!) then you need to let me know straightaway.

I don’t mean answering your calls at 2am in the morning! but we can definitely agree contact times and ways to contact especially as we’re in different timezones (I’m pretty flexible though and haven’t found this to be an issue at all)

I support you as much as I can so you don’t feel like you’re alone in your wedding planning. I’ll be on hand to guide, tell you what’s what with my experience of the wedding industry and clarify any points of difference you may have.

My ask on this is always from a place of mutual respect that benefits both of us. so that none of us abuse it (rest assured, it takes a lot to get me to that point!) You have entrusted me with the responsibility of working with you to deliver your dream day and it is certainly not something I take for granted.

Dream teams

I have an extensive network of wedding suppliers but I love to work with those I call dream teams – professionals who are equally as passionate and committed as I am to help you celebrate your love in style. There is something about working with such excellent professionals that makes your wedding day run so smoothly and seamlessly from start to finish. I truly believe that magic happens when you assemble the right team for your wedding..

Final thoughts

There you have it, my definition of what luxury means to me. It is quite a list isn’t it? You get the benefit of all the above when you hire me for your wedding and then some! (We can’t give it all away now, can we? Gotta save some for when you hire me! 😉

I’d love to help you plan your dream UK wedding – one that is understatedly elegant,, quietly luxurious and yet you in every way. Let’s talk!
